Why do people make excuses?

All of us make excuses on occasion. The most common reasons that we do not make excuses for things like exercise regularly to lose weight, include:
  •     We have our priorities wrong.
  •     We are busy and we have a limited time available each day.
  •     We do not know how to begin what we said we would do.
  •     We always come back tomorrow.
  •     We lack the commitment and integrity.
  •     We can always find more pleasant things to do.
  •     We like instant gratification and look forward generally.
  •     We built forts or objectives.
  •     In fact, we do not believe that the benefits of action outweigh the costs.
  •     We have a negative attitude.
  •     We prefer to play the role of a victim of circumstances.
  •     Disease mistakenly thought heart disease, diabetes and other lifestyle "never happen to us."
  •     We are happy to live in a state of denial.
  •     We have a very, very short memory (I forgot how it felt the last time we tried to put our jeans or seen a picture of ourselves, for example).

Here is a list of the most common excuses, we know that people use to avoid exercise or eat healthy:
  •      I have many other priorities (work, kids, housework, etc.).

  •     I receive no support at home.
  •     I do not feel good.
  •     I'm too out of shape.
  •     I'm too upset.
  •     I'm too busy taking care of children.
  •     My problem is hormonal.
  •     Too hot, too cold or it is raining outside.

Get over these excuses.

If none of these popular excuses that prevent you from reaching your ideal weight and become happier and healthier we have good news for you - they can all be vanish. Here's how:
  • Too many other priorities.
Change your priorities and everyone around you know who they are.
Remember the importance of your weight loss goal is your health and happiness.
Keep a picture of you or how you want to be at hand to remind you of your priorities.
Simplify your life, perhaps you are trying to do too much.

  • Nobody helps me.
Join a gym.
Contact a local personal trainer.
Make an appointment with a dietician.
Visit your local weight loss specialist.
Find out by reading articles on exercise and healthy eating.
  • Not having enough support at home.

The support is great, but you can succeed without it.
People around you will become more support if they knew that you are serious.
Just Begin anyway and you will find support comes as you prove that you can do it and you want to do it.
  • I do not feel good.
Nothing will help you feel better than losing weight and becoming healthier.
  • I'm too out of shape.
This is why you need to exercise.
Start with simple exercise at a relatively low intensity (as slow walking) if you can not manage something more intense.
  • I'm too upset.
Exercise and a healthy diet are great ways to help you cope with the many stresses of life.
Try to take out your frustrations on a punching bag and I promise you will feel better and you burn precious calories.
  • I'm too busy taking care of the family or children.
Get them into your workout routine and make healthier meals for all of you.
If you have very young children, pushing a stroller around your local park, with older children walk with them as they ride their bikes, go swimming together or take them to the zoo and just hang around.

  • My problem is hormonal.
Exercise and a good diet can help counteract the effects and sometimes they can even help stabilize hormones.
  • Too hot, too cold or it is raining outside.
If you know it will be hot, exercise in the early morning or late evening when it is cooler, or work in an air conditioned space.
If it is too cold, wear a couple of layers of clothing to start, and shed those layers as your body is warms up from exercise.
If it's raining outside, exercise indoors.
  • I know nothing about nutrition.
Good nutrition does not have to be complicated.
Start by simply reducing the amount of food you eat (portion control), compare the nutritional information on packaged foods as you eat and improve their knowledge of nutrition through time by reading.

  • I'm too old.
Never too old to benefit from a healthier lifestyle, just be sure to consult your doctor before starting an exercise program and take it easy, for starters.
Do not believe the myth that as we grow up we naturally become. Becoming larger for most of us is a matter of lifestyle, not age.
  • I might fail.
You haven't failed until you give up.
Remember losing weight is not an event.
Think positive and stay committed.
  • I'll start tomorrow.
    Be honest with yourself.
    Just do today!
